Passage: 1 Samuel 6
Join us as our lead pastor, Jonathan Brooks, teaches on 1 Samuel 6. In this chapter, the Philistines and the people of Israel are both shown the power and presence of God among them. But neither responds as they ought to
This passage should leave us with the lingering question: Why not? Why wasn’t overwhelming proof enough for the Philistines to worship the one true God? What wasn’t the powerful presence of God among Israel enough for them to humbly bow before him in repentance?
We need to see how both the Philistines and Israel come out of these situations essentially unchanged. This is meant to be a warning to us about the depth of the darkness of the human heart and our desperate need for the power of the Gospel to rip the veil off our blinded spiritual eyes. Powerful Proof wasn’t enough nor was his Powerful Presence. We will be looking at His Powerful Proof Rejected and His Powerful Presence Profaned.
