Cornerstone Classes will take place on Sunday mornings from 9:00-10:00am in the chapel. We will only be offering one class to start. There will be no child care provided, but we welcome you to bring your children and join us!

Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:19-22: “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”

Our Cornerstone Classes seek to fulfill these verses by teaching important topics in doctrine, theology, and church history. They are grounded first and foremost on the cornerstone of Jesus Christ. Through these classes, we desire to mature in our faith in Christ and understanding of the Scriptures together.

If you have questions, feel free to contact Jonathan Brooks.

Church History

2024-2025 Cornerstone Class

For some a class on Church History may sound boring, but nothing could be farther from the truth! Instead, we’re able to witness God’s providential hand guiding his church for the glory of his name. We’re able to learn important lessons from the past and guard ourselves from repeating those same mistakes as God’s people. As we learn about the history of the church, we will be better equipped to be a faithful church into the future.

Church history answers all kinds of interesting questions like:

  • What happened to the apostles? What men carried on the faith the first generation or two after the apostles?
  • How was it decided what books would be in the Bible?
  • What can we learn from the experience of persecution in the church along with its aftermath?
  • What lessons can we learn from the mistakes, failures, and successes of the church throughout history?
  • How has our faith been shaped by movements and people we may not even be aware of?
  • What theological controversies gave rise to the creeds and confessions we still rely on today?
  • Who were the most important theological figures in history and what impact do they have on our faith?
  • Why are we protestant? Why is that important?

All these questions and more will equip us to better understand our faith and walk with faithfulness for the glory of Christ!
