Psalm 92

The author of Psalm 92 designates this psalm as a song for the Sabbath. Sabbath rest is a theme in the Bible, a practice of stopping, resting, and refocusing hearts on God. This psalm is an invitation to refocus our hearts and minds during times of rest on truths from God's word that will recenter us in our pursuit of him and his coming kingdom, the future Sabbath rest in the new creation. There are four truths in this psalm for us to treasure and rest in:

  1. The goodness of glorifying God in his character and works (1-5).
  2. The destruction of those opposed to God in wickedness (6-9).
  3. The victory of God’s anointed King over evil (10-11).
  4. The flourishing of God’s righteous people who abide with him (12-15).
