Luke 9:1–9 shows that faithful ministry is not about drawing attention to ourselves but about pointing people to Jesus. As Jesus sends out the Twelve, He equips them with His power, directs them with His mission, teaches them to depend on His provision, and prepares them for rejection. The passage reminds believers that every aspect of gospel ministry belongs to Christ and must be carried out in humble dependence upon Him. When the church serves in this way, we’re able to keep the focus on Christ and not ourselves. Therefore, God's people should serve:
- In the Strength of His Power and Authority (1-2)
- Directed by His Sending (2,6)
- Relying on His Provision (3-4)
- Prepared for Rejection (5)
