Luke 7:1-17

April 12, 2026

In Luke 7:1-17, we learn that Jesus is both infinitely powerful and deeply compassionate, meaning there is nothing beyond His ability and no one beyond His care. Therefore, he is worthy to be trusted in the midst of our suffering. As we move through this passage, we’ll see four key reasons we can trust Christ in our suffering: He responds to humble faith, He is sovereign over creation, He shows compassion for the suffering, and He has ultimate authority over death. By studying the healing of the centurion’s servant and the raising of the widow’s son, we discover how God uses "light momentary affliction" to work for your eternal good and holiness. Ultimately, we’re reminded that while we may not understand why suffering continues, we can trust the Savior who has already defeated death on our behalf.

  1. Jesus responds to humble faith. (1-6)
  2. Jesus is sovereign over creation. (7-10)
  3. Jesus has compassion on those suffering. (11-13)
  4. Jesus has authority over death. (14-17)
