Passage: 1 Samuel 18:1-16

Join us as our lead pastor, Jonathan Brooks, teaches on 1 Samuel 18:1-16. In this passage, the presence of David as the anointed one, reveals the heart of Jonathan and Saul. It seems that the author’s intention is to continue to show us Saul’s disqualification as King and David’s worthiness. But, he does this by showing us how people respond to David’s success.

As we see the contrasting responses of Saul and Jonathan it also forces an important question on us: When something occurs that is good for the kingdom of God, but may not feel like it’s good for you, how do you respond? We will see how Jonathan and Saul responded to this question in verses 1-16. In these verses, we see 3 responses to David, one from Jonathan and two from Saul:

  1. Humble Adoration (1-5)
  2. Prideful Rejection (6-11)
  3. Fearful Separation. (12-16)
