Passage: 1 Corinthians 4:1-7

Join us as our pastor, Jonathan Brooks, teaches on 1 Corinthians 4:1-7.

In 1 Corinthians 4:1-7, Paul gives us valuable principles to apply to the way churches think about those God has given them to be their elders. A Church can make two different mistakes as it relates to pastors. On the one hand, they can boast in men, think too much of the pastor, and create divisions in the church. On the other hand, they can demean his role and think too little of the man God has given them to care for their soul. This passage provides the healthy path forward to keep from falling into either of those extremes:
  1. Regard pastors as servants of Christ. (1-2)
  2. Understand their main obligation is to Christ (3-5)
  3. Be humbled by the gospel. (6-7)
