In Luke 3 the Word of God comes to John the Baptist in the wilderness to prepare hearts for the coming King by proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. John reveals that true preparation for Christ does not involve outward displays, but a heart of repentance that turns away from sin. That repentance must produce visible fruit in how we treat others with generosity, fairness, and integrity. Ultimately, repentance leads us to embrace Jesus, the promised Messiah who identifies with us in His baptism and brings salvation to those who turn to Him.
