In Luke 2:41-52 we see Luke’s unique account of Jesus’ childhood, highlighting both the humanity and divinity of the twelve-year-old Christ. Jesus grew in wisdom in his humanity, modeling faithful maturity for young believers. And, Jesus’ desire to be in his Father’s house displays his clear awareness of his identity as the Son of God. Even while declaring his divine sonship, Jesus’ submitted to his earthly parents that he might live a righteous life in our place. Therefore, we’re reminded that through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus we also are able to call on God as our Father.
