In Luke 1:5-25, Luke pulls back the curtain on how God breaks 400 years of silence by announcing the birth of John the Baptist. Through the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, we see how God accomplishes His purposes in ways we often don’t understand. He works through suffering saints, hears and responds to the prayers of His people, fulfills His promises even after centuries of waiting, and remains faithful even when we waver in belief. Zechariah’s doubt didn’t derail God’s plan, and Elizabeth’s lifelong pain became the backdrop for God’s glory.
