Passage: 1 Corinthians 16:1-11
Join us as our associate pastor, Nathaniel Miller, teaches on 1 Corinthians 16:1-11.
In 1 Corinthians 16:1-11, Paul addresses the collection for the saints in Jerusalem and how the Corinthians were to practically contribute to it. He shares his travel plans as well as his desire to spend significant time with them. In the meantime, he would send Timothy, his co-worker for the Lord, and he gives instructions on how to properly receive him.
In all these instructions and plans, Paul demonstrates the Lord’s generosity through the gospel of Jesus and how that generosity should flow through the Corinthians to others. Because we have been transformed by the generous grace of Jesus Christ, we must also live generously toward others, particularly the saints in need. Here is how we see these ideas fleshed out in this passage:
- We should be generous with our finances (1-4)
- We should be generous with our presence (5-9)
- We should be generous with our humility (10-11)
