Passage: 1 Corinthians 4:8-21

Join us as our pastor, Jonathan Brooks, teaches on 1 Corinthians 4:8-21.

The Corinthians in their arrogance were unwilling to accept the Truth in Advertising of the Christian faith that Paul has most certainly taught them. They wanted to hang on to their friendship with the world and their ease of life and societal status. Therefore, they were acting like the world. As a result, Paul has some truth in advertising to bring to the Corinthians in 4:8-21. He is reminding them that faithfully following Jesus will not meet their worldly expectations and will, in fact, often be the opposite of those expectations.
So, in 1 Cor. 4:8-13 he provides 3 truths about faithfully walking with Jesus:
  1. We must be willing to suffer. (8-13)
  2. We must be willing to follow the faithful example of others. (14-17)
  3. We must be willing to receive correction. (18-21)
